Homegirls - Nellie McClung

This is my piece for the homegirls show at Pentimento gallery. The show's theme is about Canadian women throughout history. Throughout the month of august, there will be votes designated to the the choice image to be put up as a mural on the side of the gallery.

I chose to illustrate Nellie McClung. For those who are unaware of whom she is, Nellie McClung was a activist for female rights. She was a member of the famous five and fought for the acceptance that women are persons. Among many of her accomplishments, I chose to portray the groundwork she laid out so women could vote.

Free Wallpaper!

It has been a month since my last post and I apologize for those of you who actually follow my blog! I just moved back to Ottawa so I needed to wrap everything up, didn't have a lot of time for illustration. Now that I'm home I'm going to throw myself back into my work and attempt an illustration career lol. I decided to make a free wallpaper for anyone who's interested!

I made four colour versions to give a bit of a selection.

An Evening Stroll

Not too much to say about this piece. I went out with friends the other night for a bike ride in downtown Oakville and I got inspired by the park. Thoughts?

New Painting Style?

I think I am going through a bit of a painting-style-change. I have always loved my acrylic paintings but I am going to be working in a field where time is very precious. I am not going to completely give up on my acrylic work but I would like to move forward with a new method of painting that is more contemporary and time efficient.

Chalk Drawings!

I participated in a stunt by ReThink for TheGrid on may 12th. It took place over night and we were to create designs and illustrations with chalk on the sidewalk. After we did the drawings we had to connect them, blocks apart.

My legs are absolutely fried and I can't walk properly lol. Anywho, this is the result of my late night work:

Sir Reginald Pudglinton III

I present to you my first official piece of artwork that I have created since leaving school a.k.a: Sir Reginald Pudglinton III. I am so glad I have finally done something with my munny as it has been staring at me from my closet for almost a year lol. He was so much fun to paint and I think I have opened a new door of illustration for myself! I definitely plan on making more of these, he needs some friends, ya know?
